My name is Garron Baines. Horse Affairs is the realisation of my dream to run a business for pleasure doing what I enjoy most. I am inspired by horses and inspired by many of the people who work with them. I became a horse owner again, after an interval of several years when my farmer neighbour gave me Chester, a 18 year old Cob Thoroughbred Cross who had been lame for the previous ten years and who lived in a field the other side of my garden hedge. I set about a rehabilitation programme for him and within six months he had become a fit and happy horse. We started exploring the countryside together on rides of up to 35 miles.

We discovered a forgotten England and Essex countryside along abandoned green lanes, centuries old byways and bridleways, Roman roads and eighteenth century Kings carriage ways and coaching routes. It was a visit back to our history, the ancient routes of commerce, the abandoned cottages and communities, the historic commons lands that became enclosed by the landed gentry.

Soon we found ourselves mapping hundreds of miles of routes that we could connect into intelligent networks, among the richest in England. and we both felt we should share this secret world with a wider 21 st century community especially those left behind in the high pressurised world of corporate commerce that I had just abandoned.

I soon added Lucas, then Bobby, Paddy, Snoop and recently Art to our group, who enable me to extend my experiences to likeminded free spirit adventures.

I am passionate about the rights of way on horseback and very active in our local Bridleways organisation
